Enright notes that emerging alternatives to consumerism such as `people sharing` networks and `buy nothing Christmas` campaigns  challenge our way of life and restructure our economy and he questions whether this could be interpreted as anti- Capitalist.

The founder of the “People Who Share” movement, Benita Matofska in England, one of two people interviewed   had very intelligent and articulate  answers about what the movement signifies.

The other well-spoken interviewee, Aiden Enns,  co-founder of buynothingchristmas.org from Winnipeg  admitted that his zeal came from his religious beliefs which  had led him to question the economic injustice of  the consumer society and he questioned  whether sharing would address the issue of the present economic inequalities in society.  Very worth listening to at following URL.

  • The link to Enright’s programme was also just posted on the Degrowth of the Americas Facebook site by Bob Thompson who provides related websites including one that notes : 14th November 2012 was the first ever Global Sharing Day. It was big, it was a world first and it touched all corners of the globe! 161 partners with a reach of over 60 million people in 147 countries helped make it a big success.
  • Obviously it is a step in the right direction but Degrowth will also demand reasoned public policy shifts  as well to halt the assault on natural resources,  ecosystems and planetary cycles that has by now reached a tipping point.

But then again moving towards a decentralized more localized model suggests that a diversity of approaches will be the new  reality – approaches that share similar values and principles but which are finding different ways to reinvent the future. Some of it will be driven by dire necessity, as economic and environmental conditions deteriorate,  as well as by common sense and  morality as was noted twenty years ago by Professor Robert Heilbroner in his CBC Massey Lectures `Twenty- First Century Capitalism`.

Over the past century, Christmas has become an annual excuse for frenzied, even pathological consumerism. Sure, it helps businesses big and small, but do we really need all that stuff?

Introducing … the Sharing Economy. Instead of aspiring to own everything they need, people simply have access to it.

Does everyone really need their own snowblower? Couldn’t neighbours just share one?

True, Christmas is about giving, and we know it’s better to give than to receive. But more and more people argue it’s even better to share than to give. Others argue it’s better to give nothing than to give something that’s bought in a store.

Either way, emerging alternatives to consumerism seek to challenge our way of life and restructure our economy. Sharing networks … both local and international … have sparked a movement called collaborative consumption, forming a parallel economy worth hundreds of billions of dollars a year.

Benita Matofska is a former broadcasting executive and producer and entrepreneur. She is the founder and Chief Sharer of the British group, The People Who Share. And Aiden Enns is the co-founder of buynothingchristmas.org and the publisher of Geez magazine.

TITLE:   ASHU SOLO IN ATTACK MODE

 

Remember:  I am only one of the people against whom Ashu Solo has launched a torrent of false accusations, threats and so on.

The following list of emails may give the appearance of a duel between myself and Ashu Solo, and two other people.

In fact, I did not send one email, facebook message, or contact him in any other way, not even once.  I forwarded the complaint of Tonia Zimmerman against Ashu Solo, for arms’ length independent resolution to an Ethics Committee.

The majority, but not all, of the list of emails below are from Ashu Solo himsel.

In the beginning, his tirade against me was offensive, but not too serious.  His tracking me down at the Airport at 6:00 AM on December 28th  was a game-changer.

There was never a need for me to respond to his continuing lies, growing insults and threats;  it’s the old adage, give them enough rope, they’ll hang themselves.

You will see where he calls for a conversation with me.   I had seen his abusive assault and twisting of truth on Tonia Zimmerman (he, a 42-year-old male; she 26 years old).  I understood the merits of playing my role without being drawn in.  Nor did I have time for it.  My role was to facilitate the heariug of the Zimmerman complaint by the Green Party Ethics Committee.  Nothing more.

I was frustrated by the amount of Green Party time and energy being demanded by Ashu Solo  – – witness the following list of emails.  Imagine yourself as first a busy person, which the recipients of his messages are, then trying to be respectful, which these people are,  and then having your inbox filled with Ashu’s rants, falsifications, and threats.

I have made no attempt to record his assaults on other people, with the exception of his final email exchange with John Gormley.  The documentation of his communications to and about me, is sufficient to establish the pattern of his behaviour.  He uses the same words and phrases to launch his attacks on various people.  His writing is easily identifiable, whether it’s addressed to Tonia Zimmerman, John Gormley, Sandra Finley, Daeran Gall, Elvin Lau, or Lois Mitchell.  I have little doubt that the “two other women” mentioned by Gormley contain much of the same language.

Note the ease with which Ashu creates illusions:  constant repetition of the theme that I am harassing him, telling lies about him, etc. creates the impression that I have been actively engaged in doing those things.  The truth is that I forwarded the Tonia Zimmerman complaint for resolution; I later filed a complaint on my own behalf after Ashu showed up at the Airport when I was in line to catch a flight.

INSERT:  Note,  Repeat, In all of this, I never once sent any kind of communication to Ashu.  I forwarded a complaint to the GPC, because that was the best place for an arms’ length, independent assessment of the complaint, the best chance for both Tonia Zimmermans and Ashu Solo to receive a fair and just analysis and outcome.

Zimmerman prepared for the hearing, posting the assaults on her by Ashu on a password-protected blog.  Ashu only upped the taunts, and refused to participate in a fair process.

ALL of the barrage of emails and attacks on me by Ashu, from December 10 through to the present (see the listing below) are largely the creation of Ashu, with little response from anyone else.   Perhaps the same is somewhat true for the others who Ashu has gone after.  I have the advantage of age and experience that prevent me from lashing back at him.

Tonia Zimmerman engaged in Cyberbullying and Cyberstalking of Civil Rights Activist

Saskatoon’s Tonia Zimmerman has been bullying, cyberstalking, and harassing an equality and human rights activist, who has been fighting for the separation of the church from the state through civil rights cases, it has been found. Zimmerman’s conduct is known as ‘cyberhickery.’

Zimmerman’s victim, also from Saskatoon, is well known as a secularism activist, civil rights activist, progressive activist, and operative for a political party. Cyberstalker Tonia Zimmerman found Facebook groups that the progressive activist had commented in and responded to his comments with disparaging remarks about his appearance and bigoted remarks.

Cyberbully Tonia Zimmerman posted malicious lies and made bigoted remarks about the civil rights activist in the comments sections of online news articles, on Twitter, and on Facebook. This has resulted in her being banned from the activist’s political party Facebook pages.

Crocels News has learned that Tonia Zimmerman contacted three journalists and media outlets in Saskatoon with malignant lies about the secularism activist. Tonia Zimmerman also contacted three operatives in the political party that the progressive activist works with to spread malevolent lies about him. Furthermore, Tonia Zimmerman contacted a representative of two secularism organizations supporting the activist’s secularism cases to spread misinformation about him.

The human rights activist called Tonia Zimmerman a creative liar. ”Tonia Zimmerman has made it her mission in life to harass me, cyberbully me, and cyberstalk me just because she disagrees with my civil rights cases,” the civil rights activist said. “Tonia Zimmerman needs to get a life and find something productive to do with her time.”

Some legal experts have argued that Tonia Zimmerman’s actions are extreme enough and malicious enough that she could be criminally prosecuted for defamatory libel. Defamatory libel is an indictable offence under the Criminal Code of Canada with a penalty of imprisonment for up to five years. The Saskatoon activist is preparing a criminal complaint against her.

The civil rights activist is also preparing to sue Tonia Zimmerman for libel and slander. He has served her with a demand letter as the first step of this civil claim.

Good Lord!  Human creativity knows no bounds!  (I say after googling “Crocels”, the name of the publication you found the posting in, and then following through on a word that Ashu likes to use:  troll.  A quick impression is that the trolling part is a handbook related to using social media to disrupt.)

The only active nonwhite Saskatoon federal Green got viciously attacked by Sandra and Daeran and driven out of the party.

You have no clue what kind of backlash a person gets when they’re real public figures.  Saskatoon Greens have been almost entirely ignored by the media, other parties, and public.  Talk to the other parties and see what kind of backlash their elected politicians with real power get.

Anyone who believes any of the lies of Zimmerman when there are so many obvious lies about me on her Facebook timeline is a complete and total idiot.

Daeran said I should fix it with Zimmerman.  It was fixed with Zimmerman.  Her lies had been deleted until Sandra and Daeran got involved and started spreading her lies further.  I told Daeran not to get involved, but he obviously wanted to help his God Sandra bring me down.  Get a life and do something productive with your time.  Stay the hell out of my business instead of causing more problems for me, Daeran and Sandra.  Stay the hell out of my business.  Don’t you got anything to do of your own?

Maybe I’m impersonating the devil too and that’s why I’m fighting against religion in government.

Were Finley and Gall really foolish enough to think that I’m gonna take their lies about me without hitting back with a civil claim against them and asking them to prove their lies?

Finley and Gall wouldn’t talk to me on the phone about Zimmerman’s lies and their lies to sort them out because they know that they’re all lies and can’t be defended.

I thought Gall was an okay person, but he turned out to be a backstabber and bigot against veterans.  I thought Finley was an okay person in the beginning too, but she turned out to be a backstabber and bigot against veterans too.

I can’t believe any of you would remain friends with Finley and Gall after the lies they’ve spread about me, the lies they made up about me, their bigotry against my military service, their backstabbing, and their attacks on my reputation.  How can these two malicious liars and bigots possibly remain as part of the Green Parties?

All they care is about the environment and they think anyone taking a stand for anything else will harm the party like nothing else matters.

FINLEY AND GALL HAVEN’T PROVIDED ANY PROOF AFTER NUMEROUS REQUESTS FOR IT FROM ME BECAUSE THERE IS NO PROOF.  THEY’RE MAKING IT ALL UP.

Finley clearly added to Zimmerman’s lies because Finley claims to have seen material I wrote about Zimmerman and email exchanges I had with Zimmerman.  Either Finley is delusional or lying.  Which are you doing, Finley?  Why the hell would I possibly write material about Zimmerman?  What interest do I have in writing about a conservative religious bigot and brainless loser?  I hate conservatives and almost everything they stand for.  The only thing I’m interested in writing is research papers and op-ed articles.

Even if I had attacked Zimmerman after she spread lies about me, there’s nothing wrong with that because it would have been to get her to stop spreading lies about me.  It takes time to sue people and get a restraining order.  What could possibly be wrong with counterattacking someone who has attacked you?  But I didn’t counterattack Zimmerman yet because I haven’t had time yet.  My counterattack will be to sue her.  I’m still preparing the civil claim against her.

Some of you don’t know what it’s like to be attacked cuz the other parties have ignored you cuz they think you’re no threat.  You gotta be able to counterattack.  If you don’t, the voters will believe the lies and will think you’re weak.  Victor knows what it’s like to be attacked.

Finley and Gall have given so much encouragement to Zimmerman by showing her how successful lying can be that I wouldn’t be surprised if Zimmerman contacts even more of you.  I hope the rest of you won’t start sending her lies to everyone too.

The second link (“author”)  has the listing related to the “434” papers or associate editorships or whatever.  I am quite certain (memory) that he sometimes listed the publications following his sign off.  Will see if I can find an example.

He actually is listed on the website for, as a “Fellow” of the  British Computer Society (BCS).   No indication of what year.  There are different levels of membership.  And criteria for becoming a “Fellow”, which are pretty general.  I didn’t take time – – don’t know if you can contact the organization to confirm status.

TITLE:  Why bother with Ashu Solo?  What do I want for others?  and Women Who Run with the Wolves.

Why am I bothering with Ashu Solo?

I have the ability to imagine what his attacks are like for other people;  I can extrapolate from my experience with him.

The difference between the others and me is that I live in BC.  He is not going to get my phone number and he is not going to track me down where I live.

Never in my life have I had to look over my shoulder, or peer out the window before I stepped outside. I’ve never had to worry that my address, or my phone number, were public information.

I want it to be that way for other people, not just myself.  People should not have to live in fear for their safety.

To be completely truthful, if someone will wake up people at 5:00 AM to get my phone number, then come to the Airport at 6:00 AM to launch false allegations at me,  I am no longer comfortable.  That has been taken – – but it pales in comparison to what Ashu is doing to others.  As said, I have the advantage of not living in the same community as Ashu.

FURTHER:

I take my lessons from “Women Who Run With the Wolves” and the child’s book, “Julie and the Wolf Pack”.   And many, if not all indigenous groups:  you develop a way to deal with those who are destructive of the fabric (health) of the community or the pack.   Failure to do so means that the pack or the group will not survive.

Ashu will destroy the Green Parties in Saskatoon with his attacks.  He has to be removed from the group.  It might be unpleasant to do so, but one person should not be allowed to exercise his destructive powers.  He drives people out;  the opposite is required – – – – without even mentioning his threats to personal safety of people in Saskatoon.

The parallel in the Wolf Pack is the lead female who barred a lone male from joining because she intuited trouble.  Another pack accepted him;  he had rabies.  End of that pack.  It’s about survival.  Of the pack, but also of the individual because you do not survive in the Arctic on your own.   For survival (Arctic), it is essential to be in a group working together.

Why don’t you tell everyone the context of that quote, Gall? You said you think I want to bang Zimmerman as in sexually. I responded by saying, “The only way i fantasize about banging her is in the face with punches & kicks. She’s lucky i’m a law abiding citizen.” I never created a blog about Zimmerman. Prove I did, Gall. Maybe you, Zimmerman, or Finley created this blog to try to blame it on me. Get a life. Finley and Gall, we’re waiting for answers to these FOUR questions: Why the hell haven’t you explained to Zimmerman that she can’t make up lies about people? Why are you concerned about attacks on her (which never even happened) but not concerned about the attacks and lies about me that she engaged in first? Why didn’t you ask Zimmerman to delete her lies about me on her Facebook timeline? Why did you talk to Zimmerman after seeing vulgar lies about me on her Facebook timeline? Come on. What’s your answer. I’m a human too. Finley and Gall, we’re waiting to see these sexual threats that Zimmerman claims on her timeline I sent her. Come on. Let’s see them. Finley, we’re waiting to see all of this material you claim you saw that I wrote about Zimmerman. We’re waiting to see the email exchanges I supposedly had with Zimmerman. Come on. Let’s see them. Hello all.

I have not waded into this conversation as of yet. Frankly, it is because i do not know where to start.

Can we please stop this cycle of nastiness. Whether or not you observe the Christian holiday, this time of year is known the world over as a time of peace and hope for the future. My personal belief is that Christ was born to show us how to love one another, and I observe his birth in one week. Can we please let that spirit into our hearts now, and stop this back and forth.

Nothing is being accomplished. Please, find it in your hearts to let this go. From all sides.

This will be my final response to the lies about me unless there are more lies about me by Finley or Gall or any other Green.I apologize for any part by me in the nastiness of this discussion, but I believe that Finley, Gall, and Zimmerman caused this situation with lies and underhanded tactics, I believe I have the right to and should vigorously defend my reputation against this smear campaign as someone who plans to get really elected and as someone who cares about my academic reputation, and I believe that I had to respond to the lies with the truth about the lies, underhanded tactics, bigotry, and medical conditions possibly causing this of my attackers.

 

Gall claims I posted this on a Green Party page: “Bigots LIKE Tonia Zimmerman and Elvin Lau.” I had a look at what I posted and I never posted this. I said that anyone posting bigoted or libelous material like Zimmerman and Elvin Lau did would be banned from social media and events. I said this to stop them from posting further and because the party should protect potential nominees. I discussed this strategy with people above me in the party.

 

Every elementary school kid learns that something in quotes is supposed to be exactly what the person quoted has said. Either Gall hasn’t learned this rule or he doesn’t care about this rule. Gall has fabricated a quote by me.

 

Gall says he doesn’t know my motivation in any attacks. Nothing seems to sink in with Gall. Like I said, I have not made any attacks yet on Zimmerman because I haven’t had time, but I will sue her. My motivation for this is crystal clear to anyone who has my emails: She posted malicious lies about me in the comments section of online StarPhoenix articles, on Twitter, and on a GPS Facebook page. She contacted many journalists including someone who interviewed me about my human rights complaints today and Greens with malicious lies about me. The journalist who interviewed me today didn’t take the lies seriously at all. Nobody I talked to did but Finley and Gall. I don’t think even Finley and Gall take the lies seriously. They just want to use them to smear me.

 

I never created a blog about Zimmerman, but even if I did, I think it would have been justified to get her to delete her lies about me. Maybe whoever created this blog is responsible for the deletion of her lies. Maybe this blog was created by Zimmerman, Elvin Lau, Finley, or Gall to try to blame on me. Maybe this blog was created by someone else who was smeared by Zimmerman. I saw Zimmerman has a pattern of repeatedly spreading malicious lies about people and calling them “ugly.”

 

Gall claimed that I drove him out of the party. Finley and Gall drove me out of the GPC. I know of two GPS members who were driven out of positions by Finley. One was extremely effective and one could have been.

I think the best way to sort out the lies against me by Finley, Gall, Zimmerman, and Elvin Lau is by suing them in one civil claim. I’m attaching demand letters for Sandra Finley and Daeran Gall. As some of you know, before the court will accept a civil claim from me, I need to show the court that I tried to get the damages I think are owed to me through a demand letter in which I threaten a civil claim if a certain amount of damages aren’t paid within a certain time. I will individually send these demand letters to Finley and Gall too. Because I’ve received many emails from Finley and Gall and because Finley and Gall won’t provide their addresses, I think the court will accept sending them these demand letters by email.

Further libelous statements by Finley or Gall will increase the amount of damages that I eventually get against them, so I suggest that they stop making up lies unless they have proof.
NOW PLEASE STOP BOTHERING ALL OF US WITH LIES. YOU GOT NOTHING ON ME AND NEVER WILL BECAUSE I’VE DONE NOTHING WRONG.

I get massive media coverage all the time, even when I don’t do anything, but they’ve never covered unverified lies because the media and even the conservative media have more professionalism than Finley or Gall.

There has been a change in tone from the public in the online comments in the past few months for my Christmas message case. People are starting to get it, but the Christmas message case is over anyway.

 

One of the best tools for social change is our human rights commissions and courts. I take on causes in which I can get real results. I’m gonna keep filing civil rights cases. People like Zimmerman and Elvin Lau aren’t gonna scare me out of this. YOU AIN’T SEEN NOTHING YET.
