(NOTE: My history with StatsCan began in 2003-04 when Quakers (a.k.a. Society of Friends) in Nova Scotia alerted Canadians to the plans for Lockheed Martin Corporation’s participation at StatsCan. It was also my introduction to “good” journalism turned bad through edits made by the publishers. (NYT in the particular example.) And Government officials who lied through their teeth under oath in a court of law.

A new Canadian government report reveals a 300% rise in “unspecified causes” of death from 2019-2022 as unknown causes climbed to the fifth leading cause of death in Canada. Some health experts said the stark increase should trigger an investigation into whether the deaths are linked to COVID-19 vaccines.

bronchitis, emphysema, asthma, diabetes, influenza and pneumonia, chronic liver disease and cirrhosis, Alzheimer’s and suicide as causes of death.

Statistics Canada, also known as StatCan, released the report on Nov. 27 in The Daily, the agency’s online news bulletin.

The report generated a slew of nearly identical headlines — provided by Canada’s national news service — in Canada’s leading newspapers along the lines of this one in the Toronto Sun: “Life expectancy for Canadians fell for third straight year in 2022, StatCan says,” followed by the subhead: “More people died of COVID-19 in 2022 than in any other year since the pandemic began, report says.”

Andre Picard, health columnist at The Globe and Mail in Toronto, Canada’s newspaper of record, called the life expectancy drop — to 81.3 years in 2022 from 82.3 years in 2019 — “a big deal.”

“It’s only the second time this sharp a drop has happened in Canada in the past century,” Picard said. “In fact, life expectancy has been climbing steadily for decades: 71 in 1960, 75 in 1980, 79 in 2000 and 82.3 in 2019.”

COVID-19 deaths in Canada decreased to 14,466 in 2021 from 16,313 in 2020, the report shows. Canada is on track for about 7,000 COVID-19 deaths in 2023, Picard said.

COVID-19 deaths can’t account for Canada’s 7.3 % increase in total deaths in 2022 compared with 2021 — or for the country’s 17% increase in total deaths over the historic norm of 2019, or the historic drop in life expectancy in Canada and worldwide, Picard said.

Like many mainstream journalists and public health officials in the U.S. examining the U.S. drop in life expectancy, Picard blamed chronic diseases, drug overdoses, opioid deaths, smoking, unhealthy diets and “indifference” for the decline in Canada. “There are virtually no mitigation measures like masking any more, and vaccination rates have fallen sharply,” he wrote.

But Drs. Pierre Kory and Peter McCullough told The Defender they believe the most important and startling fact contained in the report is the 300% increase from 2019 to 2022 in “unspecified causes” of death in Canada.

McCullough, a highly published cardiologist who developed a widely used early treatment protocol for COVID-19, said the dramatic rise in deaths from “unspecified causes” in Canada represents a seismic and disturbing shift in Western medicine.

“Prior to the pandemic, death in Western countries was well understood,” McCullough said, with 40% due to known cardiovascular, 40% due to terminal neoplastic disease (cancer) and 20% due to other known causes such as homicide, suicide, drug overdoses and accidents.”

He added:

“Since the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccines, we have witnessed unprecedented deaths without antecedent disease. A large autopsy series published by Hulscher et al, found that 73.9% of the deaths after COVID-19 vaccination were due to problems caused by the shots.”

McCullough cited the hundreds of studies examining post-vaccine, spike-protein-related injuries and deaths and the millions of deaths and injuries reported by citizens in the U.S. and Europe to their governments following mRNA vaccination.

“All deaths should be categorized according to the doses and dates of COVID-19 vaccination,” McCullough said. “Unless proven otherwise, ‘unspecified death’ should be attributed to a fatal COVID-19 vaccine injury syndrome,” McCullough said.

Kory, the former University of Wisconsin professor of medicine and president of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, told The Defender the evidence is overwhelming that the COVID-19 mRNA shots caused more deaths and injuries across the Western world than any prior drug or vaccine in history.

“The answer as to why ‘unspecified causes’ are now a leading cause of death is plain and simple,” Kory said. “That cause is the one medical intervention that the world’s governments and media have championed since the start [of the pandemic]. … The mRNA platform technology is and has been a colossal failure in both efficacy and safety.”

Kory and journalist Mary Beth Pfeiffer on Tuesday published an opinion piece in The Hill calling on governments and public health officials to study and address the problem of a global historic rise in mortality thus far not recognized by officials and not reported by mainstream journalists.

On Dec. 13, the essay was trending as the first or second most popular story on The Hill’s website, which claims 32.5 million monthly unique visitors.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Robert Califf on Nov. 30 published an extraordinary thread of posts on X (formerly Twitter) calling for a society-wide “all hands on deck” approach to solve the problem of the “catastrophic” decline in U.S. life expectancy.

“JAMA Internal Medicine published earlier this month that our overall life expectancy has dropped to 76 years, and remarkably, that male life expectancy in the U.S. has dropped to 73 years,” Califf wrote.

But Kory said the FDA commissioner’s post, “which hit on smoking, diet, chronic illness and healthcare, ignored the obvious: People are dying in abnormally high numbers even now and long since COVID waned. Yet public health agencies and medical societies are silent.”

The FDA and mainstream media are ignoring the fact that life insurers have been “sounding the alarm over these unexpected or, ‘excess,’ deaths, which claimed 158,000 more Americans in the first nine months of 2023 than in the same period in 2019,” Kory wrote.

“That exceeds America’s combined losses from every war since Vietnam. Congress should urgently work with insurance experts to investigate this troubling trend.”

Amy Kelly, COO of DailyClout and the program director of the Pfizer Documents Analysis Project, said that for an autopsy to reach a proper diagnosis of an mRNA-vaccine-caused death, “histopathological examination of tissues from all over the body is necessary. Most of the time, even if an autopsy is performed, the histopathological examination of tissues is not.”

She cited an interview with Dr. Arne Burkhardt, who describes the types of testing the coroners must perform but seldom do.

Dr. Robert Chandler, a Los Angeles orthopedic surgeon who taught at the University of Southern California medical school, identified “entire new disease categories” he calls “CoVax Diseases” in his study of Pfizer’s 450,000 pages of COVID-19 vaccine documents, documents the FDA was forced to release via a court order, Kelly said.

“It makes sense that the unspecified causes of death have increased so much,” Kelly said. “When a patient dies with either multiple diseases all at one time or with a previously unseen disease state, both of which happen with ‘CoVax Diseases’ Dr. Chandler has identified, I would imagine many doctors and/or coroners don’t know how to categorize those causes of death. That would lead to ‘cause unknown’ categorization of deaths.”

According to Naomi Wolf, author of “Facing the Beast: Courage, Faith and Resistance in a New Dark Age,” “In the preindustrial world, people died mysteriously. But in the modern Western world, there are no mystery deaths. Every death has a death certificate which by law must identify a cause of death.”

“A minor rise in unattributed deaths is a problem that needs investigation,” Wolf said. “A major rise, such as you’ve identified, does not indicate a mass mystery to doctors and coroners, but rather it is evidence of a problem with state record-keeping — some bureaucratic malfeasance at a grand scale.”

TORONTO, ON: The Justice Centre announces that the Ontario Civilian Police Commission will hear the appeal of Constable Michael Brisco today, who is challenging his conviction and penalty for donating to the Ottawa Freedom Convoy in early 2022. This case raises questions about the Charter’s protection for freedom of expression, the right of police officers to support political causes while off duty, and the privacy rights of all Canadians.

Constable Michael Brisco of the Windsor Police Service is a highly trained and respected police officer with no prior disciplinary record. He made a $50 donation to the peaceful Freedom Convoy protest through the GiveSendGo fundraising platform on February 8, 2022 – one day after an Ontario Superior Court Judge held that people could continue to engage in “peaceful, lawful and safe protest” in Ottawa so long as honking ceased. When making his donation, Constable Brisco did not identify himself as a police officer and did not contribute to the protest in his capacity as a police officer.

Days later, the GiveSendGo donor list was hacked. The Ontario Provincial Police Service acquired the list and forwarded a set of names to the Windsor Police Service, who discovered that Constable Brisco had donated to the protest.

The Windsor Police Service then chose to charge Constable Brisco for “discreditable conduct.”

After a six-day hearing before an Ontario Provincial Police Adjudicator, Constable Brisco was found guilty of discreditable conduct by a Tribunal on March 24, 2023. Two months later, on May 18, 2023, the Tribunal ordered that Constable Brisco should forfeit pay for 80 hours of work as a penalty.

With the support of the Justice Centre, on June 14, 2023, Constable Brisco filed a Notice of Appeal with Ontario Civilian Police Commission, challenging his conviction and the imposed penalty.

Counsel for Constable Brisco argue that the prosecution against him lacks sufficient evidence. The claim that the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa was an unlawful protest rested entirely on claims made in newspaper articles by various officials, including the Prime Minister and the Premier of Ontario. No credible video, photographic, or other evidence on this point was filed against Constable Brisco. Further, counsel for Constable Brisco argue that the evidence against him – a hacked list that ought to have remained private and confidential – was obtained illegally. Counting the donor list as evidence against Constable Brisco amounts to an abuse of process, counsel argue.

Brisco’s legal counsel further argue that his conviction and penalty rested on a claim that Mr. Brisco’s donation was a demonstration of support for the Ambassador Bridge blockade in Windsor, Ontario; Mr. Brisco argues that there is no evidence of a link between the Ottawa protest and the Windsor blockade, and he denied any support for the blockade during his hearing.

Finally, Constable Brisco argues that the Tribunal’s decisions to convict and discipline him fail to acknowledge or proportionately balance their impact on his Charter-protected right to freedom of expression. While a police officer’s right to free expression is limited during the performance of their duties as officers, Constable Brisco did not donate to the Freedom Convoy in his capacity as a police officer. He also expected the donation to be confidential, and he did not seek to advertise his giving. The expression of off-duty police officers is protected by the Charter to the same degree as the expression of any other citizen.

Darren Leung, one of the lawyers for Constable Brisco, stated, “Freedom of expression is a right that is guaranteed to all Canadians. Police officers are also entitled to express their political beliefs, so long as they do it without identifying themselves as police. Furthermore, it is an injustice that Constable Brisco was investigated on the basis of illegally obtained information. Instead of investigating who was responsible for the hack, the Windsor Police Service have dedicated their resources in prosecuting Constable Brisco.”

“Every Canadian, including police and also including doctors, nurses, teachers and other regulated professionals, has a right to donate to the cause of her or his choice, and to do so privately and confidentially. No Canadian should face disciplinary proceedings at the hands of her or his professional association for expressing support for a cause or movement,” stated John Carpay, President of the Justice Centre.

Repeal Bill 36, the Health Professions & Occupations Act. First class tyranny.

Do the health care providers in my community know what’s going on, that affects them:

at the LEGISLATURE?

In the COURTS?

I will deliver the following to as many local healthcare providers as I can. I want them and us to talk to the local MLA. There’s a self-interest . . . .

The Health Professions & Occupations Act does this, unbelievably:

1. All BC practitioners must now follow health guidelines set by political appointees for their
patients or risk penalties including loss of license to practice.

2. Non–compliance with Ministry therapeutic guidelines may result in fines up to $200,000 or
$500,000 (corporations) and incarceration up to 6 months or 2 years.1

3. Anonymous complaints to the Colleges can result in summary suspension of licensure to
practice before the complaint is investigated.2,3

4. Appointees chosen by politicians may now enter a healthcare practice, seize patient records
and restrict access to that facility without a warrant or court order.4

5. Refusal to accept all Ministry mandated vaccines and therapies will likely result in
delicensure.5

6. College advisory boards will now consist of government appointees only.6

7. All “self–regulatory” healthcare professions in BC will be governed entirely by politicians and
their agents, using appointees selected by the Ministry of Health.7

8. The Cabinet and the Minister of Health can adopt as law in BC any regulations, codes,
standards or rules enacted in foreign jurisdictions or international bodies.8

The Act was passed a year ago. HOWEVER, not all the provisions have yet been translated into Regulations. There is time to drop into the office of MLA Adam Walker on 2nd Ave in Qualicum Beach. They want you to phone ahead and book an appointment. But the matter is urgent. I’d suggest that you jot a note and drop in. Time is short to get Bill 36 repealed. I have found the staff in Adam Walker’s office to be receptive. Just be normal and courteous. Ask questions – – like is this true? – – Or, as you wish. – – Have your friends go to the MLA’s office. He needs to know that WE ARE SERIOUS about getting the legislation repealed.

It’s about a War Crimes Tribunal. The DEFENDANTS are Weapons Manufacturers.

The Merchants of Death War Crimes Tribunal will hold accountable — through testimony of witnesses — U.S. Weapons manufacturers who knowingly produce and sell products which attack and kill non-combatants. These manufacturers may have committed Crimes Against Humanity as well as violated U.S. Federal criminal laws. The Tribunal will hear the evidence and render a verdict.

I see how (Persons) reacted as they did. However, I forwarded the email as a solace to them, to let them know that people around the world are trying to stop the killing.

The email is as much about Afghanistan, Iraq, the bombing of Syria, the bombing of Libya, – – the on-going wars that have bankrupted the Americans – – as it is about the Middle East.

The War Crimes Tribunal against the Weapons Manufacturers is an American-led action. (The American federal public debt is currently $33 TRILLION thanks to their war economy.) Lots of people in lots of countries pitch in to help the Americans stop the American role in creating the wars.

I thought it would be comforting for (Persons) to know that people in the world work hard to get at the ROOT CAUSES of the insanity. The email is a contribution to PEACE – – STOP the BLOODY KILLING.

I am condemned for forwarding an email that might bring solace? I have no right to speak?

For my part: I cannot comprehend How a doctor (Bonnie Henry) can live in the country of Canada and think that her modus operandi is acceptable?

JOHN KOOPMAN HAS COURAGE. I stand in support of him for doggedly staying the course. Koopman is a pastor; which has nothing to do with the issue of, for example, Bonnie Henry giving permission to select groups in the society, while denying the same permissions to other groups. Who does she think she is? . . . And once again, bless all the Canadians who have chipped in money to make these defenses against our own Governments possible. I shudder to think where we’d be without every one of us pitching in, in small ways, to stop present-day tyranny in its many forms. We will prevail.

John Koopman fights for all of us. Please use these grievances – – talk about them, especially with people you know in the policing and judicial systems. Make sure they know what’s happening. This has to be stopped. Silence will not do. The mainstream media is not covering these cases.

BC pastor seeks Court order for the BC Attorney General and Provincial Health Officer to disclose records of exemptions provided after some records show that Dr. Bonnie Henry unfairly favoured some faith groups.

ABBOTSFORD, BC: The Justice Centre announces that Pastor John Koopman is challenging the prosecution against him after discovering that BC’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, granted preferential treatment to some faith groups over others. Pastor Koopman was charged with violating Covid gathering restrictions for hosting in-person worship services even while Dr. Henry allowed some Orthodox synagogues to gather for outdoor and even indoor services.

In a hearing running December 4-7, 2023, at the Abbotsford Law Courts, Pastor Koopman will be seeking records of the accommodation requests the Provincial Health Officer received and how she handled them, and records of communications she received from BC politicians about prohibiting in-person worship services.

The hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. in courtroom 402 at Abbotsford Law Courts, 32203 South Fraser Way.

John Koopman is the Pastor of the Free Reformed Church in Chilliwack, British Columbia. In November 2020, Dr. Bonnie Henry prohibited in-person worship services while allowing bars, restaurants, gyms, and salons to remain open for in-person service.

Based on its religious convictions to gather for worship in-person, the Free Reformed Church re-opened its doors in 2020 and 2021 while simultaneously complying with health orders regarding face masks, hand washing, social distancing, etc. In January 2021, the Free Reformed Church, along with two other churches, filed a constitutional challenge to the prohibition on in-person worship services. After filing the challenge, Pastor Koopman and others submitted an accommodation request to gather for in-person worship services, but their request received no response for several weeks. At the same time, Dr. Henry had been responding promptly (within one or two days) to accommodation requests from Orthodox synagogues, granting them permission to meet in-person.

Two business days before the Court was to hear the constitutional challenge, Dr. Henry finally granted the Free Reformed Church and the two other churches limited permission to gather outdoors, while refusing permission to gather indoors, claiming this to be too risky. However, earlier that same week, Dr. Henry had granted all Orthodox synagogues in the province permission to gather indoors.

On March 18, 2021, BC Supreme Court Chief Justice Christopher Hinkson dismissed the Free Reformed Church’s challenge, in part because Dr. Henry had granted permission to meet outdoors. The BC Court of Appeal upheld Chief Justice Hinkson’s decision, and the Supreme Court of Canada subsequently denied leave to appeal.

Meanwhile, Pastor Koopman and other churches and pastors have been prosecuted by the Crown in the BC Provincial Courts. On November 8, 2022, Pastor Koopman was found guilty of hosting an in-person worship service on December 6, 2020.

On April 14, 2023, Pastor Koopman submitted an Application to the Provincial Court of British Columbia, alleging that the discriminatory actions of the Provincial Health Officer had made the continuation of his prosecution offensive to societal notions of fair play and decency and had brought the administration of justice into disrepute. In response, on May 10, the Crown argued that the abuse of process application should not proceed to an evidentiary hearing, and that Dr. Henry and Deputy Provincial Health Officer Dr. Brian Emerson should not be subpoenaed as witnesses in the case.

From May 15–18, 2023, Judge Andrea Ormiston heard arguments on whether the abuse of process Application could proceed to an evidentiary hearing. On September 6, 2023, Judge Ormiston denied the Crown’s Application to summarily dismiss Pastor Koopman’s abuse of process Application because she found that there was “some evidence that the PHO preferred some faith groups over others.” Judge Ormiston found that, under the circumstances, it was not “manifestly frivolous” to think that the continued prosecution of Pastor Koopman “risks undermining the integrity of the judicial process.” Judge Ormiston did decline to allow Dr. Henry or Dr. Emerson to be subpoenaed in the matter.

The December 4–7 evidentiary hearing at the Provincial Court of British Columbia in Abbotsford will address whether the Attorney General of British Columbia and/or Dr. Bonnie Henry are required to:

Provide records of the accommodation requests Dr. Henry received and how she handled them;
Provide records of communications between Dr. Henry and the British Columbia Premier, Health Minister, and/or other elected officials and/or their staff in relation to restricting or prohibiting in-person worship gatherings.

Lawyer Marty Moore stated, “The actions of the Provincial Health Officer toward people of faith in British Columbia during Covid were frankly shameful. She categorically prohibited in-person gatherings for worship, indoor or outdoors, and even brought an injunction application seeking to have pastors and parishioners arrested for gathering for worship. At that same time, she was providing permission to select groups to meet for worship, both outdoors and, in some cases, indoors, while ignoring, from what we can tell, all other requests from other religious groups to meet. In this context, we believe that the prosecution of Pastors in BC for violating the PHO’s Orders ‘offend societal notions of fair play and decency and bring the administration of justice into disrepute,’ and that, consequently, these prosecutions should be stayed. The Court, and the public, deserve to see the evidence Pastor Koopman is seeking from the PHO on whether accommodation requests were granted based on science or other factors, and the extent to which politics played a role.”

After months of hearings in nearly every province, Canada’s National Citizens Inquiry (NCI) on Tuesday released its final 643-page report on the country’s COVID-19 response, addressing the societal impacts of lockdowns, school closures, mask and vaccine mandates and other measures.

The report, compiled by four independent commissioners, included nearly 5,000 additional pages of testimony from hundreds of people who experienced adverse vaccine reactions, destruction of their livelihoods and education, diminished mental health, damaged reputations, professional discipline and/or censorship, according to True North.

The report contained over 80 pages of recommendations for lawmakers, public institutions and citizens, and called for the establishment of a National Crisis Oversight Council that would serve as an “independent, multidisciplinary body tasked with monitoring, policing and investigating government actions during crises,” including pandemics.

In an online press conference announcing the report, NCI commissioners and others discussed the division and suffering the pandemic measures caused, the failure of institutions to serve citizens and the overreach of government authority that violated rights and freedoms.

They emphasized the importance of unity, open dialogue, accountability and active democratic participation to heal as a nation.

In his opening comments, NCI Commissioner Ken Drysdale, an expert in forensic engineering and investigations, said, “Our lips may be bloodied, and we may be shamed. But we cannot turn away from the horrors of the past three years. We cannot allow this to happen to our children and grandchildren.”

Commissioner Bernard Massie, Ph.D., author of 138 peer-reviewed papers and owner of 12 patents, said, “One of the greatest dangers to democracy is the tyranny of the majority that has forgotten the primordial importance of truth and liberty grounded in the individual responsibility that cannot and should not be outsourced to the administrative state.”

NCI administrator Ches Crosbie, former leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador, called out Health Canada for approving the COVID-19 vaccines without determining they were safe and effective.

“The expression ‘safe and effective’ is a marketing slogan and a deceptive one,” Crosbie said, adding, “Beyond dispute is that [the] vaccines are adulterated … by the presence of foreign DNA fragments and a sequence from a monkey virus called SV40, suspected of causing cancer.”

Denis Rancourt, Ph.D., co-director of CORRELATION Research in the Public Interest in Canada, told The Defender the NCI report “is a masterful in-depth examination of the COVID response in Canada and the world.”

“Through hundreds of testimonies and thousands of exhibits, the picture that emerges could not be more clear,” he said, adding:

“The entire COVID campaign — from CIA–military planning, to initial Wuhan false flag, to the WHO [World Health Organization] declaration of a ‘pandemic,’ to medical institutional responses, to general lockdowns and impositions on personal behavior, to unprecedented censorship and media alignment, to mandatory vaccination accompanied by dismissals from workplaces, to delicensing medical and legal professionals, to completely biased court rulings, to covering up vaccine harm and deaths, to egregious isolation and mistreatment of vulnerable populations, to shredding of constitutional protections, to criminalizing dissent and demonstrations, to locking away political prisoners, and on and on, in a total blanket of actual totalitarianism in Canada and many countries — has been an outright unjustified vicious assault against people, freedom and democracy.”

A citizen-organized, citizen-run, citizen-funded initiative

The NCI — “funded and staffed by volunteers who believe in a better Canada,” said Crosbie — was established in response to the government’s actions during the COVID-19 pandemic and because “no Canadian government has shown an appetite for a fulsome review of the measures implemented,” according to the report.

Hearings took place over 24 days between March and May in eight cities, from British Columbia to Nova Scotia. More than 300 sworn testimonies from both experts and citizens were collected.

NCI heard expert testimony from doctors, scientists, lawyers, economists, teachers, psychologists, morticians, risk management analysts and experts in public policy, emergency management, occupational health and safety, aviation safety, pharmacy, policing and journalism, according to True North.

Among the 147 experts testifying were Rancourt, known for his analysis of all-cause mortality during the pandemic; Dr. Peter McCullough; Dr. Jay Bhattacharya; Dr. Jessica Rose; Dr. Didier Raoult, the French doctor who promoted early treatment with hydroxychloroquine at the beginning of the pandemic; Dr. Sabine Hazan; Michel Chossudovsky of Global Research; Catherine Austin Fitts; James Corbett; Dr. William Makis; Dr. Charles Hoffe; Edward Dowd; J. Jay Couey, Ph.D., staff scientist for Children’s Health Defense; Jeffrey Tucker of the Brownstone Institute; Steve Kirsch, founder of the Vaccine Safety Research Foundation; and Dr. Jordan Peterson.

The commissioners invited testimony from representatives of all provincial/territorial and federal levels of government across Canada — including “sixty-three members of government, regulators, and authorities” — but none accepted or testified.

However, NCI was able to obtain records of government positions from court proceedings, policy statements, press conferences and other evidence of their actions, and incorporate these into their hearings and findings.

NCI considered testimony on pharmaceutical interventions (use of drugs, vaccines and other treatments) and non-pharmaceutical interventions (masking, lockdowns, closures of public facilities and quarantines), and analyzed their impacts in the following categories:

Social — including restricted public meetings, movement and ability to interact and meet with other people.
Civil — the abridgment of rights and freedoms, the imposition of restrictions and forced mandates, assessed at the personal, institutional and organizational levels.
Economic — the shutdown of businesses and the characterization of “nonessential” businesses, restrictions to employment and overall impacts.
Health — forced medical procedures, lack of access to patients due to mandates, doctors treating virtually; injuries resulting from forced medical procedures and isolation.

“These testimonies provide irrefutable evidence that an unprecedented assault has been waged against the citizens of Canada. Not since World War II has the nation experienced such a devastating attack on its people,” Drysdale told True North.

Commissioner Janice Kaikkonen, an educator and public policy researcher, said at the press conference that her experience with NCI had been “quite the journey,” and that “the picture being painted was much deeper, all more devastating and divisive, and the response from our public institutions on every Canadian far more destructive” than she expected.

Kaikkonen said society still needs to address “the impact on … children of being isolated from their friends and their social networks and their structures being taken from them.”

“The juncture Canadians face in moving forward must include exposing the forces that willingly subscribed to destroying our beloved country from the inside out,” she said.

Breakdown of legal system

NCI heard extensive evidence that Canadian courts failed to uphold the rule of law during the pandemic, leading to “a breakdown in confidence and an erosion of trust in a Canadian legal system,” according to the report.

None of the legal experts who testified or consulted with NCI reported success in any court across the country against the measures or mandates.

Similar to the U.S., the Canadian system of government is comprised of executive, legislative and judicial branches. However, during the pandemic, “much of the rule-making power in Canada coalesced into the executive, which resulted in unelected public health offices across the country ruling as petty tyrants, without accountability or oversight,” the report stated.

The report attributed this in part to the “overgrowth of the administrative state,” resulting in “Canadian courts … pay[ing] more and more deference to the powers of unelected administrative bodies,” leading to “a perfect storm” where unelected officials who are “not subject to oversight through an election” have “powers over Canadians” that are “largely unchallengeable in court.”

The most obvious example of administrative overreach — enforced by professional bodies that regulate various health professions — was the public health orders, the report stated, which “subvert[ed] rights on the premise of ‘protecting the greater good.’”

Commissioner Heather DiGregorio, senior partner in an Alberta law firm, said during Tuesday’s press conference that her position as a lawyer made her pay particular attention to the testimony about the Canadian legal system, the Canadian Constitution and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

“By guaranteeing that the government cannot tread on my neighbor’s rights, we guarantee our own,” she said. “This is never more important than when things are difficult in times of fear and uncertainty.”

The evidence gathered from the NCI hearings “all points one way: to a significant breakdown of Canadian institutions,” DiGregorio said.

She cited such undesirable pandemic outcomes: “The division of our society. Neighbors pitted against neighbors. Families torn apart. Individuals suffering grievous injuries that their own doctors won’t acknowledge. Feelings of isolation. Depression. Suicides. Pain and grief.”

“Canadians have been left with a feeling that there is no person to protect them from government overreach,” the report stated. “This is worrisome evidence of a breakdown of the rule of law.”

Despite the grievous lapses in the legal system during the pandemic, DeGregorio said, “Seeing the strength of ordinary Canadians, even in the darkest times of their lives, gave me renewed hope.”

Proposals, outlook going forward

In addition to the establishment of a National Crisis Oversight Council — which the report said should include enforceable subpoena powers — the NCI report called for a full judicial investigation of the COVID-19 vaccination authorization process in Canada, leaving open the possibility of criminal liability under existing Canadian law.

It also called for an in-depth review of how Canadian courts handled all pandemic-related cases to “rebuild public confidence in the justice system.”

Citing the need to ensure “proper checks and balances,” the report recommended examining and reforming the extent of executive authority during emergencies and establishing laws that require administrative bodies “to demonstrate their expertise and rationale for decisions, particularly when those decisions infringe on individual rights.”

Regarding healthcare, the report called for establishing a clear framework for oversight of public health authorities’ decision-making processes during emergencies, and an “independent, multidisciplinary inquiry into the governance of professional colleges, especially those governing medical professionals,” to ensure transparency, accountability and adherence to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

During the press conference, DiGregorio called for “accountability for the actions of others,” but said we also need to “look at our own actions and take accountability for the part that each of us have played.”

Kaikkonen called for “Each and every one of us saying we’ve had enough, this is not going to happen again, and we’re going to stand with people who say no, who have that strength,” and with “people who are being shamed publicly or abused or trodden over.”

Voicing his hopes for the report, Drysdale said, “In the end, it is not the report itself that wields the power of transformation. … It remains just a tool, lying dormant on a shelf … until thousands or millions of people choose to wield that tool.”

Massie said it’s going to take time before things change, but that “it’s not going to take the majority of people to wake up to make a difference. … You just need a critical mass of people … to move [on the] political front, provincial, federal, [and in] court.”

Rancourt told The Defender:

“Canadians may have produced the most comprehensive report, which is an historic landmark. Now, will there be accountability? To what degree, and what form will it take?

“Every citizen’s awakening is one unit of the needed accounting, and this report has been a process that catalyzed more awareness.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Thursday sued Pfizer alleging the drugmaker made “false, misleading and deceptive claims” about its COVID-19 vaccine and tried to intimidate and censor critics who questioned those claims or cited facts that countered them.

According to the lawsuit, Pfizer’s marketing claims about the efficacy, duration of protection and ability of its COVID-19 vaccine to prevent transmission violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

The lawsuit also alleges Pfizer cited misleading statistics, concealed negative data and made unsupported statements about efficacy against variants like Delta.

“We are pursuing justice for the people of Texas, many of whom were coerced by tyrannical vaccine mandates to take a defective product sold by lies,” Paxton said in a press release. “The facts are clear. Pfizer did not tell the truth about their COVID-19 vaccines.”

When the failure of its product became apparent, “Pfizer then pivoted to silencing truth-tellers.”

The suit cites complaints made by former U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) official Scott Gottlieb on X (formerly Twitter) about vaccine skeptics.

Paxton is seeking over $10 million in civil penalties, plus injunctive relief barring Pfizer from making claims about vaccine efficacy similar to those challenged in the lawsuit.

Pfizer denied the allegations, telling Forbes it believed the “state’s case has no merit.” Defending its claims about the vaccine as “accurate and science-based,” Pfizer said its vaccine “demonstrated a favorable safety profile in all age groups, and helped protect against severe COVID-19 outcomes, including hospitalization and death,” according to Reuters.

“Pfizer has so far escaped accountability about the potential health problems like myocarditis, thanks to sweeping liability protections granted to pharmaceutical companies” by the PREP (Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness) Act, wrote The Federalist, which argued Paxton’s legal strategy of “fraudulent activity” may succeed because it “falls outside the scope of legal immunity.”

Ray Flores, senior outside counsel to Children’s Health Defense, told The Defender Paxton’s investigation of vaccine manufacturers announced in May “evidently bore fruit.”

“In my opinion and consistent with existing case law, this suit correctly pleads that state laws such as the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act are not barred by the PREP Act,” Flores said.

“I believe that other suits, including other consumer fraud and shareholder derivative suits, as well as other law and motion pleadings, will greatly benefit from the complaint’s details,” he said. “Depositions and other discovery will produce even more gems.”

Flores said his greatest hope is that information in the Texas suit will prompt the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or the U.S. Attorney General “to finally initiate an enforcement action against the vaccine manufacturers for not being completely forthright with the FDA on the safety and efficacy of the vaccines.”

Under the PREP Act, plaintiffs are prevented from suing vaccine manufacturers unless an enforcement action has been completed, Flores said.

Terri Burke, executive director of The Immunization Partnership in Houston, told the Texas Tribune the lawsuit is “just another attempt to erode confidence in all vaccines.”

The Texas Tribune said some experts argued the lawsuit’s assertion “that vaccinated people were more likely to die from COVID-19” was “completely unsubstantiated,” and framed its coverage of the suit as the attorney general trying to hold Pfizer to blame because “the pandemic did not end soon enough.”

Pfizer’s marketing ‘bore no resemblance to reality’

The suit alleges Pfizer’s claim its vaccine was 95% effective against infection was “highly misleading from day one” because it represented only the “relative risk reduction” instead of the “absolute risk reduction.”

In its calculation of relative risk reduction, Pfizer compared only the small subsets of the vaccine and placebo groups who developed COVID-19 systems during the trial — 8 versus 162 people, respectively — instead of considering the entire cohort of nearly 35,000 trial participants, according to the petition.

Using Pfizer’s Phase 2/3 data, the absolute risk reduction calculation “is performed by subtracting the post-treatment risk rate of 0.04% (8/17,411 persons) found in the vaccine group from the baseline risk rate of 0.9% (162/17,511 persons) found in the placebo group, which after rounding yields 0.85%,” the petition states.

A vaccine recipient’s absolute risk reduction is the “FDA’s preferred efficacy metric,” the petition states.

“According to Pfizer’s own data, preventing one COVID-19 case required vaccinating 119” people, the petition states, “But Pfizer’s fusillade of public representations bore no resemblance to reality.”

The petition outlines three main areas of deception related to the “95% effective” representation:

The FDA had only two months of Pfizer’s data before it authorized the vaccine, stating it was “‘not possible’ to know how effective the vaccine would remain beyond” that time.
When the FDA told Pizer it needed additional information to determine whether the vaccine protected against transmission, Pfizer engaged in a “fear-mongering campaign, exploiting intense public fears by insinuating that vaccination was necessary … to protect their loved ones from contracting COVID-19.”
Pfizer made false and unsupported claims about vaccine effectiveness against variants, specifically the Delta variant, when its own data showed otherwise.

The complaint also states that by late 2021, “a greater percentage of vaccinated persons contracted, and even died from, COVID-19 than unvaccinated.”

As a result of Pfizer’s deceptive conduct, the suit alleges, the vaccine maker was able to sell hundreds of millions of doses to the U.S. government “and its vaccine quickly penetrated the market through widespread public adoption.”

Dr. Naomi Wolf, whose organization Daily Clout has performed detailed analyses of the Pfizer documents, told Steve Bannon that Pfizer’s own documents show they knew, “within two months of rollout, that the vaccine did not work … and that the third most common side effect was COVID[-19].”

Pfizer’s campaign of censorship, intimidation

When it became apparent that its vaccine was failing, Pfizer responded “by intimidating those spreading the truth, and by conspiring to censor the vaccine critics” by coercing social media platforms to silence them, the lawsuit alleges.

The FDA authorization, according to the petition, “did not afford Pfizer with a blank check to seriously disseminate misrepresentations … to enrich itself at the expense of a frightened public.”

Gottlieb, who led Pfizer’s regulatory and compliance committee, more than once contacted Twitter over “perceived violations of Twitter policy,” the suit states. In one case, Gottlieb discussed journalist Alex Berenson’s tweets, where he stated the vaccine did not stop infection or transmission and had a limited window of efficacy.

“These were indisputably true statements based on the scientific record at that time, including data from Pfizer’s own studies, as well as FDA’s own findings,” according to the suit.

On multiple occasions Pfizer employed methods “with the intent to provoke and ultimately cause censorship on social media platforms of content adverse to sales or consumption of its vaccine,” including through a front group called the “Public Good Projects,” the suit alleges.

The petition also calls out Pfizer CEO Alfred Bourla for saying on Nov. 9, 2021, that persons who spread so-called “misinformation” about the vaccines were “criminals” who have “literally cost millions of lives.”

The same day, Pfizer posted the claim of “misinformation” on its Twitter account, according to the suit:

‘An artificial and flawed consideration’ of benefits and risks

The complaint goes into considerable detail discussing the difference between normal drug and vaccine approval versus Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the FDA.

Because EUA products “will likely have inferior guarantees of safety and efficacy,” the complaint states, Congress mandated that the FDA inform healthcare professionals administering EUA products of any “significant known and potential benefits and risks” to ensure that “individuals receiving the product obtain the same information.”

FDA advice states patients are “are unduly influenced when risk information is presented using a relative risk approach,” and that such information results in “suboptimal decisions,” according to the petition.

Noting the FDA’s review of Pfizer’s formal application concluded that “FDA and CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] identified serious risks for myocarditis and pericarditis following administration” of its vaccine, the suit alleges Pfizer’s misrepresentations resulted in “the public engaging in an artificial and flawed consideration and balancing of … benefits and risks.”

Without Pfizer’s deceptive marketing practices and its coercive attempts to silence true information about the efficacy and dangers of the vaccine, a “substantial portion would likely have opted for an alternative or foregone inoculation altogether,” the suit alleges.

“The complaint seeks $10 million in damages plus costs of investigation and attorney fees,” Flores said, adding, “Unfortunately, that is just a drop in the bucket for Pfizer. Nonetheless, it is a giant step forward towards accountability.”

Second Texas lawsuit against Pfizer in under 2 weeks

This is the second time in under two weeks that Texas has sued Pfizer. On Nov. 20, Paxton unveiled a lawsuit against the vaccine maker and its drug manufacturer, Tris Pharma, alleging the companies sold medication to children even though they knew the drug was ineffective and potentially unsafe.

The suit, filed in the Harrison County District Court, alleges Pfizer knowingly distributed a drug used for treating attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to children on Medicaid — despite the drug’s pattern of failing quality control tests.

The drug, Quillivant XR, is a stimulant that affects brain and nerve chemicals involved in hyperactivity and impulse control.

From 2012-2018, “Pfizer and Tris continually manipulated Quillivant testing to hide poor manufacturing practices and defraud the Texas Medicaid program,” according to a press release.

During those years, many families complained that the medication failed to work. According to the complaint:

“At no point did Defendants warn Texas Medicaid providers or decision-makers that Quillivant had known manufacturing issues affecting its efficacy, thereby depriving the Medicaid program of the crucial information it relies on. … As a result, thousands of Texas children received an adulterated Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance.”

I am extremely grateful to Laura Jeffery for her courage in giving testimony to the NCI.

A year or so ago, I saw videos that were coming from funeral homes, from morticians, and embalmers. The fibrous masses that were coming out of the circulatory systems of deceased people who were being prepared for embalming were disconcerting and graphic; they remain vivid in my memory.

Laura was asked about what the fibrous masses are. She deferred to “the scientists”, which she is not. Specifically mentioned is Dr. Ryan Cole, a pathologist. An interview with him is appended. But listen to the lived experience of Laura Jeffery:
