Brian Peckford is the last living premier involved in the construction and adoption of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Now, the former Newfoundland and Labrador premier says the Charter and parliamentary democracy are being “violated and abused” by governments whose pandemic policies have taken aim at freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, and other Charter-guaranteed rights as well. As the Charter’s 40th anniversary nears, Peckford joined True North’s The Andrew Lawton Show to speak out about the “collective psychosis” he says is afflicting Canada.

The show’s hosts discuss the concept of freedom with Naomi Wolf, best-selling author, journalist and Rhodes Scholar.
Wolf, who also is CEO of the online information hub Daily Clout, said freedom needs urgent representation from both sides of the political aisle. Wolf described how she crossed party lines to join the medical freedom movement.
Wolf also discussed how to use Daily Clout to track and follow important federal and state legislation related to specific medical freedom issues and mandates, and the need for “boots-on-the-ground” activists for the Nov. 3 kick-off of Worldwide Walkouts.

Wolf voted for Joe Biden and now she’s right behind Florida Governor Ron De Santis (Republican) and Montana Governor Republican Greg Gianforte, because of their work to thwart Biden’s mass vaccination agenda. Cannot afford to be partisan.)
Wolf said people have a limited time to act:
“We need to ramp up … a transpartisan movement around the world of people who just love liberty. In my happier moments, that’s what I do see when I read the headlines is people on the streets … in France, people on the streets, in Britain, people on the streets in the United States just saying, ‘Give us our liberties — we’re entitled to liberties — we’re a family that needs to be protected by human rights.’”
Wolf said it was obvious to her that fighting for liberty should be non-partisan. When she joined the medical freedom movement, she joined as a person, not a party.
She said:
“It’s not left versus right. It’s all of us here and our bodies, and our children and our planet against these rapacious oligarchs and massive corporations that are trying to turn us into a state of what I call ‘biofascism.’”
Wolf discussed how to use her website to act on specific bills that affect people’s districts and voting blocs.
“This tool is so amazing and we definitely want our listeners to know about it and use it and keep track of what’s happening,” McBride said. “We are seeing that medical freedom is at the forefront in so many states. So for the first time ever it is top trending legislation.”
The hosts closed the show with commentary on recent Project Veritas footage (starts at 57:30) of senior advisor to Phil Murphy, a democratic candidate for governor of New Jersey, saying his staff used the vaccine mandate to further his political career and win votes.
U.S.: Police and Fire departments “across the country”, along with “city workers”.
The PBA filed its lawsuit on the same day as thousands of city workers marched across the Brooklyn Bridge to protest the vaccine mandate. Union opposition to these obligations, especially in city police departments, has been growing across the country and increasing in fervor. Earlier this month, the Los Angeles county sheriff said he would not enforce the mandate in his department. In Washington State, 1,785 state workers reportedly left or were fired for not complying with the vaccine mandate. . . .

More than 2,000 New York City firefighters have taken medical leave in the past week as unvaccinated municipal workers face the start of sanctions Monday.
Frank Dwyer, deputy commissioner of the New York City Fire Department, said by email that the number of firefighters on medical leave was “very unusual.” The department employs roughly 11,000 firefighters.
Some first responders in the U.S. have been relatively resistant to employers’ Covid-19 vaccination mandates, with some saying they would rather lose their jobs than lose their sense of freedom over having to be inoculated.
Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro suggested in a statement Sunday that firefighters who participated in the apparent sickout were neglecting their oaths, which commit them to “faithfully discharge the duties” of their jobs. Those who do not meet the vaccination requirement have been threatened with unpaid leave starting Monday.
“Irresponsible bogus sick leave by some of our members is creating a danger for New Yorkers and their fellow Firefighters,” Nigro said. “They need to return to work or risk the consequences of their actions.”

Nigro, however, refuted news reports and politicians’ claims that the staffing challenge has forced the department to close a number of firehouses. U.S. Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-New York, said in a statement Saturday that 26 city fire stations have closed.
“The department has not closed any firehouses,” Nigro said.
The department said fire companies — groups of firefighters composed of specialized teams — open and close regularly but might face more closures than usual. The FDNY was prepared to shut down 20 percent of them while deploying private emergency medical response services to help out, it said.
Malliotakis said New Yorkers were being left without a safety net as the city and its firefighters stand off over the mandate.
“God forbid there is a major fire, or a severe car accident, or if a crime takes place, or even worse,” she said as she pointed out a firehouse she said was temporarily without a ladder company because of staffing shortages.
Andrew Ansbro, president of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, blamed city officials and suggested the vaccination requirement could have been staggered among groups of firefighters to avoid staffing shortages.
“My members have not been given the proper opportunity to be informed by the department or the city what’s going to happen to them,” he said.
Ansbro acknowledged the increase in sick days taken by firefighters but said many could be attributed to firefighters getting vaccinated and experiencing flu-like symptoms afterward.
In an information page on Covid-19 vaccines, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not use the term “flu-like” to describe symptoms or effects. It does say, “Side effects can affect your ability to do daily activities, but they should go away in a few days.”
The New York Police Department did not immediately respond to a question about the number of officers who have taken medical leave in the last week.
The union that represents rank-and-file officers, the Police Benevolent Association, said it has filed a lawsuit challenging the vaccine mandate.
Mayor Bill de Blasio expressed some optimism about the situation Saturday, tweeting that 91 percent of city employees had so far been vaccinated. The deadline for many workers to get at least one dose was Friday.
The NYPD reported that 84 percent of its employees, civilian and sworn, were vaccinated. The fire department’s figure was 80 percent, according to NBC New York.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CSPO) has barred a doctor who has been a vocal opponent of COVID-19 vaccines and lockdown measures from practicing medicine, alleging her activities put patients’ health at risk.
Dr. Rochagne Kilian, a former emergency room doctor from Owen Sound, Ont., spoke out multiple times against mask mandates, the safety of COVID-19 vaccines and lockdown measures.
Dr. Kilian resigned as an emergency room doctor at the local hospital in August. The CPSO suspended her from practicing medicine entirely as of Wednesday.
CPSO spokesperson Shae Greenfield said in a statement emailed to True North on Wednesday that the suspension is an interim order made under the Health Professions Procedural Code of the Regulated Health Professions Act, which permits the regulator to issue interim orders where it has evidence that patients might be exposed to risk of harm or injury.
INSERT: I left a message for Shae Greenfield, asking him to phone back. I asked him how old he is. Because I cannot imagine an older generation person thinking that in an ostensible democracy it is okay to revoke a doctor’s license in this manner. I am especially offended because I know how how the pharmaceutical companies are. I have listened to what Dr. Kilian has to say. That the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)would muzzle her goes beyond the pale.

“Although we are limited in what we can disclose at this point, additional information about Dr. Kilian’s conduct will be made available at the earliest possible opportunity,” said Greenfield. “That may include allegations referred to the Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal.”
Members have the ability to appeal interim orders to the courts, at which point the CPSO would present information supporting their decision, according to Greenfield.
Dr. Kilian is known for being an outspoken critic of COVID-19 vaccines and lockdown measures. In September, she was a speaker at anti-lockdown protests organized by the Grey-Bruce Freedom Fighters. She has also spoken out against vaccine mandates, vaccine passports and mask mandates.
Dr. Kilian could not be reached for further comment in time for publication.
Earlier this month, the CPSO barred Dr. Kilian and Dr. Mark Raymond Trozzi from issuing medical exemptions to mask mandates, COVID-19 vaccinations and testing.
In a statement issued earlier this year, the college stated that physicians should not communicate any statements that go against public health orders.
“(Doctors have) a professional responsibility to not communicate anti-vaccine, anti-masking, anti-distancing and anti-lockdown statements and/or (promote) unsupported, unproven treatments for COVID-19,” the CPSO statement said.
“Physicians must not make comments or provide advice that encourages the public to act contrary to public health orders and recommendations.”

An interesting article. I am not a China fan for various reasons, although I admire some of its history.
I read two books from 2 women who experienced Mao time. Quite shocking.
When I think about this, the Nazis and Stalin come to mind and the question why it is that many people know about the Holocaust, but do not know about the other millions who the Nazis murdered, primarily Russians, Poles and Jews from these and other countries. And not to forget Germans, not only the ones they considered enemies but also the sick and the mentally challenged. Doctors were murderers in large numbers.
And not many people are aware of the victims of the Stalin Regime and the two different Chinese regimes. The Holocaust is still in the news (which is good) but the others are sort of forgotten
